Do you have a specific way to raise your self-esteem? My self-esteem isn't that low, I think I'm a good person, but I often worry about my acne. It's getting out of hand lately. I'm going to a dermatologist to fix this, but I've noticed I'm getting some psychological problems. Every time I have to endure a breakout, I find it hard to be confident. Do you know how to remain confident when your face is looking messed up?

I’ve always had trouble with that in high school myself, actually. :)

When people talk about raising their self-esteem however, I get the feeling it’s a bit of a misunderstood concept. All self-esteem really is is a lack of negative thoughts and feelings about yourself (shame, disgust, anger, fear, any really.)

So the way to maintain that in public is by having a healthy view on yourself even in the face of people who might not. Just realize that no one is an accurate judge, and people’s feelings about you are quite random and unreliable at the best of times. You need to make up your own mind.
