Not sure about the eco-friendly stuff, not really something I know a lot about. I would say it’s simply a place that doesn’t run in a way that it harms the natural environment (i.e. no producing compounds that cannot be broken down by nature, or that threaten the fauna and flora.)

As for why we attribute behaviors to whole groups even though we’ve only seen them in individuals; I think this mainly happens when the individual/group is significantly different from us, which makes it easier for us to be prejudiced and attribute any aspect of their behavior to that category of people - even if it’s completely unjust.
