Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
First up, congratulations! I can only cheer for people who aren’t afraid to express themselves regardless of the arbitrary and absurd views of people around them.
I can imagine it’s not easy, indeed, but there’s only two things I can really think of to say. One is that I hope you never give weight to other people’s skepticism or hate about your orientation, it’s emotionally funded by ignorance, which ironically means you are in all likelihood more normal and sane than they are.
Secondly, try to surround yourself with people that are normal about this, that don’t see it as something strange, scary or unnatural; people who are rational and open-minded; because those are the best friends anyone can have, and this is doubly true in the case of people who are often not completely accepted by others.
Other than that there isn’t much I can say, really. It’s up to you how to deal with the public situations; you can choose to just not display the relationship openly in public - although if you ask me, you shouldn’t have to hide it at all, but it might be the safer option depending on who you’re surrounded with.
